Carol Alt Dog House

This miniature firehouse was custom-built for Carol Alt’s cat as a heartfelt tribute to her father, Battalion Chief Anthony T. Alt, a man the New York Post once hailed as a “superhero fireman.” Designed to honor both his legacy and the family’s deep firefighting roots, the structure is a meticulously crafted replica featuring real kiln-fired brick, hand-laid to capture the spirit and strength of a classic New York firehouse. Modeled after Ladder 58 and Battalion 18, where Chief Alt once served, the building includes signature red firehouse doors, flanked by stately columns and capped with period-accurate windows. Inside, a custom gold Maltese cross bearing the number 542 pays homage to his badge and fearless service. From rescuing a man mid-air, dislocating both shoulders in the process... to running into burning buildings on vacation just to save a cat, Chief Alt lived and died as a true hero. This tribute was built with the same honor, grit, and love that he showed to everyone... human or animal, throughout his extraordinary life.
